The possibility of participating in the design and construction of your own home is an advantage that some lucky people have, such as the owners of this Madrid house. Hand in hand with the architect who designed it, they valued the best distribution of their two floors. This not only had to adjust to the needs of the family, a marriage with two children, but also should take full advantage of the abundant luminosity he enjoys. Therefore, the first thing they took into account was the orientation of the sun and, from there, they set the use they would give to each room. In the part of the house that receives a soft natural lighting from the first hours of the day until the sun goes down they located the living room, with living and dining area, the kitchen and the bedrooms; and in the area that do not receive direct sunlight, bathrooms and the laundry room and iron. One of the advantages they had when participating in the design of the house was that they were able to change the distribution on plan. For example, initially two children's bedrooms were planned but, after seeing the plans, the owners chose not to lift the partition that separated them and allocate a part to the playground. In his eagerness to achieve bright environments, they painted the whole house in white; a tone that multiplies the light and enhances the feeling of space, but that can be cold. To solve it, the owners decorated the walls with Large format works by artists such as Lucio Muñoz, Natividad Bermejo and Montserrat Gómez-Osuna. The choice of coatings was also very thoughtful: for the ground floor, where the common areas are located, they chose clay tiles, a very solid material; on the upper floor, reserved for the bedrooms, they installed pallet, a much warmer option; and in the bathrooms they placed stoneware tiles.
On the glass doors that lead to the porch of the house were placed veils typical of the Saharawi women that the owners acquired on a trip. Ektorp sofas with white cover Blekinge, by Ikea.
